Entry requirements

To be eligible to take part in a YMCAfit Apprenticeship, you should be:

  • Currently working in a fitness or leisure environment for 30 hours or more per week
  • Aged 16 to 23-years-old
  • Not degree qualified
  • A qualified Level 2 Gym Instructor (if applying for the Level 3 Personal Trainer Apprenticeship)
  • Not currently in full-time education

Is it free?

Yes. All of the training that you complete is free of charge to you if you're between 16 and 24. The Government covers the costs of your Apprenticeship.

Who can apply?

Anyone 16 or over (if 24 or over a £500 contribution is required)
Cannot be Degree/HND qualified or in full-time education
Must live in England
You must be working in a fitness environment for 30 hours or more per week. If not, contact us and we can help you secure employment before starting.

How much will I earn?

The wage you will earn is set by your employer. The current minimum wage for a 16 year old apprentice is £3.50 per hour although many apprentices earn significantly more.

How long does an apprenticeship last?

Our apprenticeships run for 1 year. You can progress from one apprenticeship to another but each course of learning is set at one year,.
