About this course

This course is delivered as a 3 hour workshop in partnership with Jōbu. Personal Trainers of all levels and experience can learn about what motivates clients to take part in physical activity. Through behavioural science techniques/choice architecture/small nudges put in place by the PT, clients can adjust their mindset to long-term enjoyment of physical activity for themselves and their friends, old and new. 

Influencing clients positively means not only that they will stay for longer but that they will influence family, friends and colleagues to join in too. 

With this course, you will learn why PTs and their clients are local Super Heroes and the impact you have on the local community. We are here to help you make an impact. We have your best interests at heart.

Course details

This course is available in a classroom setting and online.

Face to Face classroom

This format is delivered in a classroom at our London venue. You may prefer to attend a course delivered in an educational setting and for easier networking. 

  • Format: Face to face classroom-based learning
  • Duration: 3 hours

Virtual Classroom

This format is delivered in a virtual classroom. You may prefer to study from home to reduce the need to travel. 

  • Format: Virtual Classroom based learning
  • Duration: 3hr virtual classroom sessions 
  • Weekend and evening options available
What you will learn

The workshop will be a mixture of knowledge sharing through presentation and activities. You will be given the necessary skills to identify and adapt clients behaviour. Knowledge sharing will include: 

  • How taking part in physical activity impacts the local community. 
  • The Jōbu Super 7, The Jōbu Social 6 
  • How to influence clients. 
  • The principles of Self Determination Theory.
  • How to identify extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. 
  • How to differentiate between extrinsic and intrinsic rewards. 
  • How to develop referrals. 
  • How to differentiate between extrinsic and intrinsic goals. 
  • How to reframe goals. 
  • How to set behavioural and outcome goals. 
  • About behavioural science models. 
  • About choice architecture. 

The outcome of the workshop is a set of practical nudges which you can implement to; gain more clients and help clients improve their physical, mental & social wellbeing – leading to a healthier business and healthier local community.
