Most of the information you should need has been sent in the confirmation email that you will have received when you booked your course.

There are a number of useful attachments that answer the most common queries, specifically the 'Helpful Information' document.

If you would like this email to be re-sent, please email us at bookings@ymcafit.org.uk.

If you wish to discuss your individual learning journey or have any questions that have not been answered in the ‘Helpful Information’ document please contact guidance@ymcafit.org.uk or call 0844 346 0036.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding a medical condition please contact bookings@ymcafit.org.uk or call 0844 346 0036.

Please see your confirmation email for information on the venue, how to get there and what facilities are available.

If you would like this email to be re-sent, please email us at bookings@ymcafit.org.uk.

Deferring an Assessment

If you wish to defer from any element of your assessment, the Programme and Assessment team must be informed at least four weeks before the start of your course. If a booking is being made with less than 4 weeks notice a deferral can be agreed at time of booking only. Deferrals will not be accepted outside of this time frame and any assessments that require re-booking will be subject to full cost.

Missing an Assessment

Candidates who fail to attend the assessment are liable to pay full assessment fees and may have to wait for an assessment slot to become available.

Booking Theory Assessments

To book a theory assessment please contact the Learning Support Team on blendedlearning@ymcafit.org.uk or 0844 346 0036.

Please note that if you are calling to book a re-sit or deferred assessment, full payment will be required at the time of booking.

Booking Practical Assessments

To book a practical assessment please contact the Programme and Assessment team on assessments@ymcafit.org.uk or 0844 346 0036.

Please note that if you are calling to book a re-sit or deferred assessment, full payment will be required at the time of booking.

All candidates are assessed against agreed and published criteria. Achievement of these criteria is decided by experienced assessors who are qualified in Assessing and/or Internally Verifying in the Active Leisure Sector. If you wish to appeal against your assessment decision you should do so within 20 days of receiving your results by downloading the Appeals Procedure and completing the attached form. Send this form and supporting documents to the Systems & Process Manager, YMCA Fitness Industry Training, 111 Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3NP.

Please note: It is extremely difficult to investigate appeals without impartial evidence. Appeals against a referral in practical teaching must therefore wherever possible be accompanied by video evidence. You are at liberty to video any part of your assessment; however, you must ensure that the video shows both the teacher, you and the class participants in order to accurately reflect the safety and effectiveness of the session taught.

Whilst YMCA Fitness Industry Training will make every effort to assist you in the smooth running of videotaping, they accept no responsibility for any arrangements or equipment related to such action.

Video arrangements, however, must not interfere with other candidate’s access to assessment opportunities or disrupt the smooth running of the day. Please give notice of your intention to videotape during the assessment-planning phase of your programme.

Successful completion of all the appropriate assessment elements will result in the awarding of a certificate listing the relevant discipline. YMCAfit certificates will be emailed within one month of completion of the course. If you require a hard copy of your YMCAfit certificate, please call 0207 343 1850 selecting option 3. The cost for this service is £5.00.

Certificates from external awarding bodies may take 3-6 months to receive but we are continuously trying to improve this turnaround. These certificates are sent via Recorded Delivery which will require a signature upon receipt.

YMCAfit is happy to assist in replacing certificates when they have been mislaid by students. If the certificates are produced by YMCAfit, they cost £20 for up to 5 (and £5 each thereafter). If the mislaid certificates are CYQ, these cost £35 per certificate.

If you are not sure which certificate you need, please contact us for advice. Contact the Programme & Assessment team on assessments@ymcafit.org.uk or 0844 346 0036.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide references for students looking for employment.

To contact the YMCAfit office, please call 0844 346 0036 and select the appropriate option, or email us using the details in the table below.
