Studio Instructor Jobs

Once you have your  studio instructor qualification you can find employment in two ways;

  • working within a club teaching group exercise classes along with some personal training and gym instructor duties (some employers pay extra for the provision of classes)
  • freelancing

Freelancing

To increase your versatility and income you should consider qualifying to teach more than one discipline  e.g. Aqua, Keiser Cycle or Holistic Conditioning. Once qualified you can register as self employed and approach a variety of clubs. You will usually be invited to give a class as an interview where you are assessed and then if your style fits the times available in the rota you will be given the slot.
Do not forget that your fee will not cover travel time, expenses or researching and developing your routines.

Also think about how many classes you can realistically physically manage in a week. Over working is not sustainable at a professional level and could lead to burnout and injuries.

Salary Expectations

Expect to earn between £15 and £30 per hour.
