Fitness/Gym Instructor Jobs
Taking the YMCA Gym Instructor Course is probably the fastest way into you first fitness job. At this early stage in your career you will be able to prescribe exercise at a basic level, you will be responsible for the safe induction of new members and the ongoing development of existing members’ programmes although you will not yet be able to personal train as this requires you to complete a personal training qualification.
Career development
A good question to ask employers is what staff training and development opportunities they offer. It can be in the employer’s interest to train you in circuits, group exercise and personal training making you a more versatile and valuable team member. These additional skills will also allow you to earn more money both for yourself and for the club and act as a retention tool, you are unlikely to want to leave if you are about to be invested in.
Salary Expectations
You can expect to earn from about £10k rising around £16k.
