Anyone who enjoys sport from any background, should give it a go
Daniel Coules, 16 from Tower Hamlets.
Daniel was always interested in sport at school; he did Football, Cross Country and the Mini Marathon.
He finished his YMCA Gym Instructor qualification and is now gaining experience at a gym in Bow and completing his NVQ.
Free Funded Training
Free training in the workplace
If you are working in a fitness environment you could be eligible for free training. We have designed our Fitness Apprenticeships specifically to give you the knowledge and confidence to perform your job more effectively.
This programme has been designed to ensure that minimal time away from work is necessary. Study packs are completed in the workplace and at home. Qualified guidance assessors will support and assess you for
the duration of the scheme.
YMCAfit Fitness Apprenticeships
YMCAfit Fitness Apprenticeships are a great way to take your first step in the fitness industry or move your career to the next level.
The apprenticeships include: industry recognised qualifications, individual mentor support from a qualified, experienced Guidance Assessor and flexible learning formats.
Level 2 Gym Instructor Apprenticeship
This is an ideal qualification for those who want to get started in gym instruction. It is recognised by REPs at Level 2.
Entry requirements
Employed and working a minimum of 16 hours a week within a leisure environment
Living or working in London
Aged 16-18
Certification
- Industry Certificate 'Level 2 CYQ Certification in Understanding the Sports, Leisure and Fitness Industry'
- Technical Certificate 'Level 2 CYQ Certificate in Gym Instructing'
- Industry Certificate 'First Aid at Work'
- Level 1 Key Skills 'Communication' and 'Application of Number'
- NVQ Level 2 'Instructing Exercise and Fitness'
Level 3 Advanced Gym Instructor Apprenticeship
This is an ideal qualification for those already in the industry who want to progress onto advanced instructing. It is recognised by REPs at Level 3.
