Rosemary Conley

Rosemary Conley discusses the opportunities available for fitness instructors to become franchisees.

About Rosemary Conley

Rosemary Conley diet and fitness clubs are the only national slimming organisation in the UK to offer diet and exercise in the same class. Founded in 1993 by the nation’s foremost diet and fitness expert Rosemary Conley CBE, there are now 180 franchisees across the country running over 2,000 classes a week for their 80,000 members.

Career opportunities

Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs provide franchisees with all of the necessary training to start a business, along with continued support and development to ensure its success. Qualified fitness instructors are eligible to begin a franchise, with additional training in business management and marketing included within the initial start up package. In addition, all franchisees have the opportunity to earn a certificate in Applied Nutrition and Weight Management, a qualification accredited by the University of Chester. Within the initial start up package, you will have everything required to start running the franchise, including essential equipment, promotional material, local and national advertising as well as basic business stationery.

Ideal candidates

The most successful franchisees must be passionate about diet and exercise. They should have a personal commitment to living and actively promoting a healthy lifestyle. Becoming a franchisee is a full-time commitment but there is great flexibility and the potential to earn high financial rewards. Although having an exercise to music qualification is not vital, it will reduce the cost of buying the franchise and reduce the amount of training time needed. Experience of running exercise to music classes is beneficial and is encouraged to help build confidence.

What quality do you look for the most in a fitness instructor?

We look for enthusiasm, a passion for exercise and the ability to interact well with people. You must be able to communicate with people from all fitness levels and experience.

Do I have to be slim to work for you?

We look to all of our franchisees to be within a healthy body max index (BMI). If they have conquered their own weight problem in the past, this can help them to empathise with members, but this is not absolutely essential.
