Joanna Berggren, Director of Nordic Balance talks about the company and opportunities it offers for fitness professionals.
Nordic Balance is a team of London health and fitness professionals based in SW1. We do most of our training out of our gym in prestigious St James’, in central London. However, we do also recognise the fact that there are many people who aren’t as comfortable in gyms so we also offer a mobile service in central London areas.
We take a longer term view than most companies believing that if you look after your people, the rest will surely follow. This means we have happy employees who are focused on being great trainers. Our employees are all highly trained, highly experienced, and continually study to further their knowledge to make sure they offer an unbeatable service. To work for us they go through an extensive interview process, in which we test them on a range of measures to make sure they are the right fit for our clients. We’re continually learning new disciplines and developing ourselves.
.
We are regularly looking for personal trainers and pilates instructors offering a competitive starting rate with the potential for working up to 25 hours per week. You will also receive paid holidays upon completion of a probationary period and access to a stakeholder pension. The work environment is non-competitive promoting a friendly atmosphere with a focus on shared learning between everyone. Trainers receive a ready-made client base so there is no need to do any individual marketing. Additionally trainers will receive an annual training fund to help to develop their own specific area of expertise.
We are extensively looking for personal trainers who have the ability to think for themselves and work well both as individuals and as part of a team. Our trainers must have bags of enthusiasm, be friendly and humble. They must have a positive attitude with flexibility to work early mornings and late evenings as well as working weekends. The trainer must have excellent people skills and a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service. Appropriate candidates must hold relevant level 3 qualifications and have up to date insurance and be first aid competent. We also require all our trainers to be members of the Register of Exercise Professionals.
What quality do you look for the most in a fitness instructor?
An instructor who goes the extra mile to ensure that our clients enjoy themselves and get results.
What advice can you give for a mature level 2 instructor looking to enter the industry?
Be prepared to work hard at all hours of the day. I would recommend looking to add to your knowledge and qualifications to constantly be on top of your game.
