Liberte Fitness

Papillon Luck, Founder of Liberté Fitness talks about the company and opportunities it offers for fitness professionals.

About Liberté Fitness

Liberté Fitness is a new and exciting way of thinking about fitness. We exercise in outdoor groups in various parks, gardens and beaches across East Anglia. Our philosophy is to liberate yourself from being confined to a gym for your workouts and we exclusively operate in the great outdoors. Our training programme has been written by the Sports Services Department of Loughborough University.

Career Opportunities

Liberté Fitness is always looking for the best instructors in the industry to teach their park and beach programmes. There are several roles available to the right candidate ranging from a group instructor in parks where we run several group sessions of varying fitness levels, to a more managerial role as a Park Manager who is responsible for managing the park location, generating members and growing the size of the park membership. Group instructors earn an hourly rate whilst Park Managers earn the hourly rate plus a bonus for reaching sales targets and retaining members.

Ideal Candidates

Liberté Fitness is looking for instructors with an outgoing personality that can motivate participants and push them to their maximum potential whilst training. They need to have had experience instructing group classes and it is preferable that they hold a CYQ outdoor fitness qualification. We would expect them to have knowledge of Liberté Fitness’ philosophy in order to educate our customers of the benefits of training outside rather than the restraints of a gym environment. It is expected that they will be able to give nutritional advice to customers who ask for guidance and be thoroughly confident in helping the group achieve their fitness goals. For the Park Manager role we are looking for entrepreneurial fitness instructors who want to grow their park and be rewarded for it whilst benefitting from the support that the business can offer.

Quick Q&A

What quality do you look for the most in a fitness instructor?
A love of the great outdoors particularly outdoor sports and pursuits combined with a passion for health, fitness and a desire to promote, encourage and motivate customers to strive to live a healthy lifestyle. They should possess leadership qualities and be personable to ensure that as well as the training, customers look forward to spending an hour with their Liberté instructor.

What advice can you give for a mature level 2 instructor looking to enter the industry?
Occasionally we might hire a level 2 instructor if we believe they possess the right characteristics and can train on the job. To be given the best opportunities to increase their earning power, we would only hire a level 3 as a Park Manager. Level 2 instructors may be hired to teach a separate second group of intermediate customers whilst the lead PT manages the advanced group when we have parks with large memberships.
