Jon Morgan, Owner of Advance Personal Training discusses the career opportunities for our graduates within his growing company.
Advance Personal Training was launched in 2006 and work extensively throughout East and West Sussex providing tailored training sessions for individuals, couples, groups and teams in the gym, at home or outdoors. We are the official personal training providers for Impulse Leisure, meaning our trainers have direct access to hundreds of gym members on a daily basis. As we continue to expand our brand, we are continuing to search for the best trainers that the industry has to offer to bring in at our newly acquired sites. Through a combination of youth and experience, attention to detail and enthusiasm, we are looking to conquer our goal of providing our customers with the ultimate health and fitness experience. You could become part of an established brand which prides itself on providing excellent customer service, customer satisfaction and results to everyone they work with.
Due to our ongoing expansion, we will be recruiting in East Sussex, West Sussex and Essex over the next 12 to 24 months. Through our partnership with Impulse Leisure, we will have access to a number of large membership bases but our employees will also have the flexibility to train their own clients on-site as well.
We believe that ongoing mentoring and guidance helps our trainers to become the best that they can be. We provide assistance to our trainers in building their businesses ensuring that all team members continue to excel and maintain the highest standards in all aspects of their work.
We are looking for candidates that all hold a level 3 qualification with REPs and to hold relevant insurance. As a person, our ideal candidates would be pro-active being equally adept working individually as well as within a team. They should have excellent people skills and a proven track-record of delivering exceptional customer service. It is imperative that any candidate shows bags of enthusiasm both for their role and their own personal development through future study to ensure that they stay abreast of the constantly changing environment of the fitness industry. Finally, a successful personal trainer will need to know that this career can be profitable, but it takes time, drive and determination. Therefore they must be prepared to work hard and be flexible to reap the benefits of this fantastic industry.
What, in your eyes, makes for a stand-out personal trainer?
It’s important to do more than what is expected, as the client wants to feel special and not to be treated solely as a component of a nine to five job. To be approachable and adaptable. Occasionally you may have a full session plan but something outside of your control requires you to adapt at the last minute, having an ability to think on your feet is therefore of paramount importance.
What are your views on visible tattoos in the workplace?
It isn’t something we are overly keen on and will often deal with individual cases as and when it may arise. Normally, if they are not offensive, there isn‘t a problem.
